Sprayless Scratch Repair.
The SSR Process

The Sprayless Scratch Repair process is straightforward & quite easy to pick up

1. First we must prepare the repair.
Clean the area thoroughly, remove any dirt from the bottom of the scratches and chips and wipe the area with a panel wipe to ensure there is no wax, glaze or polish left in the scratches that will prevent the paint from holding.

2. Applying the Paint.
The paint should be applied by hand with the index finger. Rub paint into the scratch using a circular / spiral motion to force the paint to the bottom of the scratch or chip.

3. Applying the Polish.
Apply polish generously, directly to the paint product and buff with a high quality wool pad.

4. Deeper Scratches.
Some scratches will require more than one application. The wider and deeper, the more times you will have to apply the paint.

5. Cleaning Up.
Once you have completed the repair, wipe down the vehicle all over to remove polish that may have slung over and around the surface of the vehicle. Check the windscreen mouldings and wiper blades for splatter and you're done!.

All this in just a matter of minutes

The Alternatives.

SSR is not your only option, but we think its your best

  • Flat & Polish

  • The traditional way to remove minor scratches. First of all, ?flat? the scratch with 2000 wet and dry. Then buff with an abrasive such as G3 polish. It works, but exceptional care must be taken so as not to ?cut through? the clear coat. If you do, then what was a $50.00 to $70.00 profit turns into a $300.00 loss as the panel will now require refinishing.

  • Using a touch up brush

  • It's cheap, but you simply cannot control the flow of paint and are often left with an ugly scar.
Alternatively you could apply the paint using a dart or pencil but the result is not much better.

  • Specialist Touch-Up

  • If you know what you are doing you can play around with custom mixtures of paint and lacquer, apply them to the scratch or chip, allow it to harden and flat polish.
This is a decent alternative if the scratch or chip is a not too large, but it can take 1 to 1 1/2 hours per chip and is only suitable for a small number of chips (2 or 3). Any more than that and you can end with a vehicle that looks like it has spots, then the only option is to refinish.

  • Special Spray-On Formulas

  • These techniques are generally referred to as SMART repairs, spraying anything onto vehicles requires great skill to obtain a satisfactory result. Another downside is that it takes a lot longer and the paint needs to be colour matched exactly with the existing finish.
As with any spraying out with a spray booth, Health & Safety issues must be addressed, not to mention the elements such as wind and rain.

Now try any of these techniques with a complete bonnet - no chance! The only alternative in this situation is to refinish. Unless of course you use SSR.
